Welcome
The mission of Coalition for New South Carolinians is to assist, organize, advocate for and mobilize the diverse immigrant community in the state (CNSC).
We are a network of more than 16 organizations and 100 individuals that serve or represent underrepresented immigrants and refugees in the state.
We carry out our work by:
- Holding community forums and other educational efforts to promote public awareness and understanding of the issues affecting immigrants and refugees;
- Developing and coordinating action plans on issues affecting immigrants and refugees;
- Advocating for the rights of underrepresented immigrant and refugee communities; and
- Promoting and supporting leadership and integration of immigrant and refugee communities in South Carolina.

The Coalition for New South Carolinians collaborates with other state nonprofit organizations to monitor state legislation affecting immigrants and other new South Carolinians. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Raids Plant in Asheville, NC

On August 12, 2008, 57 workers were arrested by agents of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at Mills Manufacturing Corporation in Asheville, NC on charges related to immigration violations.

Aug. 15, 2008 - Federal agents have arrested five additional House of Raeford Farms employees and continue to search for others as part of their investigation into alleged immigration violations at the company's Greenville poultry plant.
